THE EYE OF TYPHOON / FIGHT FEVER 2

by VICCOM

NEO GEO MVS NGM-210

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

The Eye of Typhoon is the second unreleased fighting game in the NEOGEO proto game library. The Warlocks of the Fates (circa 1995) was the first. In 1996, Korean game developer Viccom, with assistance from SNK, put together a vastly improved fighting game over their first effort; Fight Fever. (1994) Typhoon has more characters, better graphics, and an amazing heart and soul. It was scheduled for release in 1996.

Viccom was a Korean game developer that only released one game for the NEOGEO, Fight Fever. The game was mostly limited to release in the Korean market. As a result, Fight Fever is one of the most scarce NEOGEO cartridges manufactured for the system. With such a limited market, perhaps this was the reason why it was ultimately decided to cancel the NEOGEO release of The Eye of Typhoon. The PC Computer & Panasonic 3DO versions however, did get released.

Recently, an independent programming team took on the challenge of recreating the NEOGEO version of this game by utilizing the assets from the PC Computer and Panasonic 3DO versions as the foundation. Using any and all screenshots and information available as well for reference. What they managed to put together is very impressive and gives a very good picture of what the neogeo version might have been like. Even though it will always be categorized as a homebrew, it looks, sounds, and feels like a true neogeo game.
