NEOGEO's OBSCURE THIRD CASINO GAMBLING GAME
While the first two "casino/gambling" utility cartridges for use on the NEOGEO hardware
were both well documented and officially released, there was actually a relatively unknown
third game produced. Very little is known about this third game in the series, and only one
sample cartridge has ever been found. In addition, only 1 poor quality picture and only a
half dozen poor quality screenshots were ever provided by the "alleged" owner. The reason I
say "alleged" owner is because back in 2002 when this person reported all of this, in one of
our telephone conversations, he explained to me that he had only "borrowed" the game and that
it was not actually "for sale". But despite my request for him to preserve the game, he chose
not to do so and simply "returned" the game afterward.
While Brezza Soft is credited on the title screen of the first two games, they are nowhere
to be seen on the title screen of this third game. Only Sun Amusement is credited and the
copyright is 2002 rather then 2001 as the previous 2 games. Now while it is not 100% certain,
it is generally accepted that this game never saw an offcial release as the previous 2 games.
This is based on the evidence that no other cartridge has ever been found and the MVS "packaging"
is not the same as the previous titles. It looks like a production sample or beta test item.
However, to be completely fair, it is absolutelty possible that these gambling games were
mostly marketed, distributed, and sold to the niche casino/gambling industry and as such are
much more difficult to find. And therefore, it is also possible that additional games could
have also been produced and have simply never surfaced.
In closing, it is very important to remind everyone reading this that these "games"
were NOT GAMES! And more specifically, these "cartridges" were NOT NEOGEO cartridges!
They were not even assigned standard sequential NGM product numbers. And so these items
are no more "neogeo games" then a "NEO PRINT" cartridge is. Yes, with some minor
modifications, they are technically "playable" on standard NEOGEO hardware. However,
their "gameplay" and "interactiveness" is extremely limited and is more comparible
to say watching "movie carts" on the Nintendo Gameboy Advance.
