The MVS TEST CART
In 2002, a couple of guys posted pictures of what they claimed to be
unreleased proto cartridges. While the pictures they provided FAILED to meet
the minimum standards REQUIRED to prove their claims, they did however provide
us with never before seen images of an MVS software testing cartridge. The
two boards consisted of an MVS CHAMC2 character board, and an MVS PROGMC2
program board. The CHA board contained flash card slots in place of the
C1 & C2 roms. The PROG board contained flash card slots in place of the
V1 & P1 roms. These flash card slots supported jeida standard flash memory
cards, similar to the card standard used for the NEO-GEO memory card.
Despite repeated requests from the community for more pictures and information
about these unique test cartridges, none were ever provided. Therefore even assuming
that the data on the boards contain a working game, does not imply that the game
contained within is unreleased. In 2004, one of the individuals claimed to be
selling the special cartridges, but again refused to provide any additional pictures.
However, he did report that attempts at copying the data off of the flash cards in
order to "dump" or copy the games, yielded no results.
However, fast forward to present day, with the assistance and cooperation of
Jeff Kurtz & myself (Billy Pitt), as well as with the added use of the newly
discovered Neo Dev Cart, this task suddenly has new hope and becomes quite
possible to achieve.
