jumpers needed?

HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS!
First of all, are the two boards essentially the same? Both boards can accomodate a main 14/28 pin eprom chip, and both boards have 4 additional ic's: 74LS02, 74LS04, 74LS11, 74LS30. Second, what are those jumper wires being used for, in other words, what are they doing? And more importantly, did I recreate them properly on my board? And, are they even needed? Lastly the Turbo board uses a 2564 eprom but I am using a 2764. Does this matter? I heard that earlier texas instruments 2516's and 2532's had compatibility issues with other manufacturer's 2716's and 2732's but that this was corrected after the 64's and above.

Below are the pictures of the Coleco Turbo Proto Board.
